Question: When going to conventions and you can't sell what do you do to promote yourself as an artist or webcomic?

At MoCCA Fest this year, I didn't have anything to sell. It was refreshing to just have my best work out and see how well it captured other people's interest, without having to worry about selling anything.

I would put up banners and posters of your most intriguing art and let the looks sell themselves.

Otherwise, conventions usually have advertising space for sale in the convention program book. I can't think of a better promotion than that; virtually everyone that visits a convention will take home one of those books.

I am doing just that for Anime Mid Anlantic this year. There's no way to gage if it is effective but logically it seems like a really good idea.

I try 2 things. I try to give out business cards of my webcomic usually to people I talk to and artists I meet who have tables. And printing out some cheap fliers I can drop on the designated 'free stuff table' some cons have. Hope any that helps =]

That's pretty much what I've been up to. I'm testing out having an ad in the program book this year too.

Ah, ad in the program sounds like an excellent idea. Stuff like this really forces u to be inventive with your advertising, should be fun.
