Back for a bit.

Posting my new comic Mighty Moe and Big Spike Vs The Golden Wasteland here. Lots of folks I follow moved on from DA but I still have a few people I know are active. I was on Twitter these past few years, but it's nice to be focused on the art here. The hashtags are helpful. Oh my goodness I am glad I found the turn off mature content. Whoa.

I am going to get a feel of the place again and decide if I wish to continue to post here.

Reply here if you are still active. I will take a look at your current works.

Anime Iowa 2018

1 min read
I'm at Anime Iowa as staff this coming weekend. Selling a few craft items at the Staff Art table in the artist alley. It has to be non adult material so not much for Demon Eater. I am selling the Pepe plushies(only 4 left). No DE or TPCTH comic books this time around.

I am though (maybe) going to premier a new comic... well kinda new it's the continuation of Moemon. I renamed it My My Moemon. It's SFW and pure comedy. I'm going to try it out and see what people think.

The plan is to print it and post it on Patreon until August then post one update a month.

I want to work on other short story comics so more info as it comes.

It's that time of year again. Winter blues season.

I've been hanging out at twitter more than here. twitter.com/jillyfoo
I think I've been there too much. Trying to lay off it this weekend.

So what's new?
2nd year in my new location. Still in the slumps. This winter I've been throwing a lot of things at the wall and seeing what sticks.

-Got back into N a v y r e s e r v e s.
-Became staff for Anime Iowa 2018.
-Made some art for Anime Detour 2018.
-Trying to make a zine for Omaha Zine Fest.
-Going to board game meet ups in Des Moines.
-Trying online dating.

Conventions I plan to sell at are Omaha Zine Fest and maybe Anime Iowa. That's it for now.
I have been struggling with sellable artwork for a while and decided I would earn more money overall by taking up NR as a 2nd job.
I felt I was too much of a one trick pony artist and got tired of making the same art objects year after year. I want to get back into selling at conventions after I finally put out more books (also if I figure out new content.)

Of all the conventions I have sold at I have found Zine conventions to be very good for my kind of work. My comics aren't furry enough for furry conventions, not kid friendly/mainstream/superhero enough for comic conventions, and not anime/fanart enough for anime conventions.  I think Zines are where it's at for my work. It took a while to figure that out. (At least for now.)

Hey let’s talk about Net Neutrality and how losing it MAY mess up webcomics. I am planting the worry seeds, but I am also hoping for reassurance that this stuff won’t happen.

So these are some sites that webcomics users and readers often use for hosting and promoting:

Hosting sites: Smackjeeves, theduck, tapas, Comicfury, personalised www.mywebcomic.com sites

Sites that could be used as hosting sites: tumblr, deviantart, patreon etc..

Mainstream social media sites: facebook, twitter etc..

I can’t perfectly explain NN so link here: www.usatoday.com/story/tech/ta…

From what I read speculations how bad losing NN can be:

Will you have to pay for access? What if...

You: Have to pay extra to access and post to your sites. You have to pay a lot more to maintain all your mirrors.

Your audience: Has to pay extra to access your sites or site. With many users choosing to only pay for social media sites, you will significantly lose readership.

Will you have to pay for better access? What if…

You: Have to pay extra to get a decent speed at your sites.

Your audience: Has to pay extra to get a decent speed your sites or site. If anyone remembers reading webcomics in the late 90’s early 2000’s it SUCKED waiting for each page to load. This will mean a big lose in readership and perhaps the entire webcomic sharing format will change (downloading pdfs? A return to more zines and paper sales?)

Will only the biggest sites survive?

Perhaps smaller sites like Smackjeeves, theduck, tapas, Comicfury and personal sites will go down and webcomics will be hosted at bigger picture sharing sites like deviantart or facebook?
