I love the simple-mindedness of American schools. Yes, many comics (manga included) are simply mind-candy (Hellsing, Rosario+Vampire, One Piece, etc...), but even the oldest American comics promote morality and following the laws of society. (Batman, Fantastic Four, Spiderman...)
I've read/watched several manga/anime that urge character building and intuitive thinking (Spiral, Case Closed). American schools need to stop stereotyping 'comics' as frivolities.
